The CMI Congregation. Mithradham is an educational institution belonging to the Congregation of Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI). It is the first indigenous religious congregation in the Catholic Church of India founded in 1831. At present nearly 3000 CMI members serve in 27 countries in 922 educational, 298 pastoral, 135 social & cultural and 405 other centers. (www.cmi.in)
Mithradham is managed by a Trust under the CMI S.H. Province. The CMI Sacred Heart (S.H.) Province was established at Rajagiri, Kalamassery, Kochi in 1953. Nearly 350 members of the province serve in 80 institutions around the world.(www.shprovince.org)
Mithradham was established in 1996 by S.H. Monastery at Chunangamveli attached to the Sacred Heart ( S.H.) College ( estd. 1944) at Thevara, Kochi. It is an Arts and Science College under the CMI S.H. Province which has received autonomous status under the M. G. University, Kerala . VEV, a charitable society registered in Stuttgart, Germany in 1995 has a played a very prominent role in the realization of Renewable Energy Centre, Mithradham. VEV coordinates all the activities in Germany connected to Mithradham and is involved in planning and execution of international training programs conducted at Mithradham. (www.vzfev.org)
Rottenburg-Stuttgart, a catholic Diocese in Germany has played a major role in the realization of Mithradham. The Diocese, established in 1828, has a separate Department for World Church which has shared its mantle in difficult times for the establishment and growth of Mithradham. (www.drs.de)
